The Caprock Family Office, a Boise, Idaho-based multi-family office, has tapped wealth management veteran Greg Mech as a managing director to head its new office in Newport Beach.

Caprock, which serves as a financial adviser to high-net-worth clients, has other offices in San Jose, Seattle and Park City, Utah.

Mech, a Laguna Niguel resident, has spent nearly four decades in the wealth management and consulting fields, including a 29-year tenure at Merrill Lynch & Co., now part of Bank of America Corp. He served as a regional managing director, overseeing Merrill Lynch’s private wealth management operations in the Western U.S. He also was the OC market president for Bank of America.

Mech is the founder of eMaxx Partners, a virtual financial advisory firm, which launched last year.

He also serves on the advisory board of Chapman University’s Leatherby Center for Entrepreneurship and Business Ethics.
